Mason,
I started to write a poem. Or at least some form of short sentence steccato prose. It did not come together. Then I said to myself, “self” I said. “Why are you forcing the format?” I had no answer. Change. Willingness to change is an aspirational trait. Today, I will demonstrate that in this Valentine. I will change. For this year it will be a letter. The style of which may or may not be able to be formally categorized.
I suppose that change is an apropos theme. Looking through the pictures I have selected I see change. I will let each picture, the selection and placement too, tell their own story. With these words I will strive to talk of the year that has passed. Interestingly with an event like New Year’s Day or a birthday it becomes an opportunity to reflect back and gaze forward. This blog allows another opportunity to do the same. Of course each dawn also lets us avail ourselves of the chance to look back. Perchance to dream forward.
Changes this year. A new major. A new place to live. New summer jobs and becoming a behavior tech. Speech and Language. Will it be the change that results in a path for life? Or a trail that leads to a broader road? I do not know but I have been excited to see you learning answers to questions I have never thought to ask. I have loved talking to you this year. Talking on facetime. Time talking as we drove cross country. I have been enthralled with hearing your perspective. I look forward to hearing even more about how you make opportunities for yourself and dive into them.
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts
His acts being seven ages
Well looking at your pictures I suppose you are at the third stage per Aristotle.
As in a third, his limbs increase,
A beard buds o’er his changing face.
Cause you got beard buds o’er your face. I like seeing that you retain your connections. To friends who have come out to visit and to family you have visited. I do not have pictures but I do admire your willingness and even desire to work. I hope that as you approach work, friends and standing on your stage you have even a smidgen of the joy that you felt when you bit into a Choco Taco.
